Abstract

The adsorption of Cl− ions has been studied by a tracer method in the course of electrosorption of Cu2_ ions on platinized platinum. By comparing the potential dependence of Cl− adsorption with and without addition of Cu2+ it has been found that the adsorption of Cu2+ ions was accompanied by that of Cl− ions in spite of the presence of a great excess of supporting electrolyte (1 M HClO4). The conclusion has been drawn that the specific adsorption of anions might take place on the electrosorbed layer.
