Abstract
It is important to understand the aerodynamic characteristics of circuit breaker nozzles. Therefore, experimental apparatus was fabricated with air instead of SF6 as the working fluid. The nozzle wall pressure and the flow velocity of the nozzle free jet were measured. This paper describes the study of the supersonic flow fields through the circuit breaker model nozzle with an electrode, using the laser velocimeter. The flow fields involving shock waves between the nozzle exit and the electrode are investigated. The results of measurement using the laser velocimeter are compared with the flow visualization results by the schlieren method.
