Abstract

In the present work, green synthesis of Carbon Quantum Dots (CQDs) from peanut shells via pyrolysis technique has been reported. CQDs were functionalized with Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic acid (EDTA) in order to enhance their optical and structural properties. This synthesis process is environmentally friendly, simple and highly efficient. Fluorescent CQDs exhibit high quantum yield of 19.7%. [email protected] consist of spherical morphology with average particle size of 4.26 nm. Structural and functional properties of [email protected] were thoroughly studied. pH studies of CQDs and [email protected] were also done. All the studies revealed that [email protected] can play potential role in sensing applications to detect environmental pollutants in water and soil sources.
