Abstract

Stress and deformation properties and hydraulic fracturing are key problems to designing and constructing of high earth-rock dam. In order to research characteristics of the stress and deformation properties of composite geo-membrane high earth-rock dam, the non-linear FEM is applied to analyze the stress and deformation of a composite geo-membrane rock-fill dam with Duncan-Chang E-B Model, emphasis on the deformation and stress behaviors of dam body, with a composite geo-membrane high earth-rock dam as an example, to estimate the whether or not developing hydraulic fracturing. The calculation results show that the deformation and stress behaviors of dam body and composite geo-membrane are in the normal state, composite geo-membrane has an evident effect on reduce embankment seepage, decrease pore water pressures and saturation line of embankment dam, to prevent dam produced hydraulic fracturing.
