Abstract

Theoretical study of spectroscopic properties of LiNbO3:Ho3+ crystal in the wavelength range of 1880–2130 nm was carried out, when the Stark structure of optical spectrum of the impurity ion was taken into account. Wave functions of Stark sublevels of the ground (5 I 8) and first excited (5 I 7) multiplets of the Ho3+ ion were defined, the line strengths induced by the indirect electric-dipole and magnetic-dipole intra-Stark transitions were calculated, and the main spectroscopic characteristics were determined on this basis.
