Abstract

In this report, the behaviour of the effect of the handle operating velocity on Shore hardness number was investigated. Inasmuch as the testing of hardness with the Shore Scleroscope had so far satisfied the general requests, hardness numbers of many specimens which are of different materials and of different hardness, were determined using 4 Shore Scleroscopes of D-type, at every velocity of operating handle from 7 to 506 r.p.m. As a result, the behaviour of the effect of the handle operating velocity on hardness number was made clear, and the critical velocity to free from this effect was indicated as 1 revolution per 1 second. Performances of some kinds of the air damper used in D-type Shore scleroscope were also compared.
