Abstract

In this study, functionalized TiO2-nanoparticles were modified with ionic liquid of geminal dicationic with anion of chloride and imidazole group in its structure for the first time. TiO2 nanoparticles were functionalized using a titanium isopropoxide precursor within three different silane components: (3-Glycidyloxypropyl) trimethoxysilane, 3-isocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane and Trimethoxy (1H,1H,2H,2H-nonafluorohexyl) silane according to the hydrothermal method. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized via scanning electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction techniques. According to Hr-TEM and FE-SEM images, nanoparticle size was in the range of 10–20 nm. For functionalized TiO2-silane nanoparticles that had been modified with an ionic liquid, zeta potential, electrophoretic mobility and particle size were found to be 23.50 mV, 1.84 × 10−6 mcm/Vs, and 293 nm, respectively.
