Abstract

Semileptonic B meson decays induced by $b \to s(d) l^+ l^-$ flavour changing neutral current (FCNC) transitions are very important to probe the quark-flavour sector of the standard model (SM) and also offer a probe to test new physics (NP). Although there exists a lot of precise results on $b \to sl^+ l^-$ induced processes, there is lack of sufficient data for $b \to dl^+ l^-$ induced decays. Here, we are interested to study $B \to \pi l^+ l^-$ and $B \to \rho l^+ l^-$ decays which proceed via $b \to dl^+ l^-$ transition at the quark level. In this work, we investigate the differential branching ratio, forward-backward asymmetry, CP violation asymmetry and lepton polarization asymmetry in these two decay channels in a non-universal Z' model. We find a significant deviation from the SM value of these physical observables for these decays which provide a clear conjecture for NP arising from Z' gauge boson.

Highlights

  • In recent years, a broad amount of experimental data on many observables of rare b-hadron decays have been compiled by LHCb, ATLAS, and CMS experiments at the LHC

  • Though we have found a puzzling list of deviations between experimental and theoretical values of flavor observables, there is no such direct evidence for a new physics (NP) effect that shows a large discrepancy from the standard model (SM)

  • We study semileptonic rare B-meson decay modes B → πlþl− and B → ρlþl−ðl 1⁄4 τ; μ; eÞ in the nonuniversal Z0 model to probe the knowledge beyond the SM

Summary

INTRODUCTION

A broad amount of experimental data on many observables of rare b-hadron decays have been compiled by LHCb, ATLAS, and CMS experiments at the LHC. Some experimentally observed parameters that show small inconsistencies from the SM are the angular observable P05 [1,2,3,4,5] of B → KÃμþμ− decay mode, the observation of more than 3σ deviation in the measurements of the decay rate of the BS → φμþμ− [6] process, the branching ratio of hadronic decays b → sμþμ− [7,8,9], and the observation of lepton flavor universality (LFU) violation in RK 1⁄4 BðBþ → Kþμþμ−Þ=BðBþ → Kþeþe−Þ [10] and RKÃ 1⁄4 BðB → KÃμþμ−Þ=BðB → KÃeþe−Þ [11] These deviations explain several anomalies in rare B-meson decays which are induced by the flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) transition b → sðdÞ.
