Abstract

1. Formulas were obtained for determining the residual surface stresses in turbine blades. Equations were derived for calculating the residual stresses through the thickness of blade sections. 2. The minimum residual surface stresses along the blades (20\2-70 MPa) are seen in the root and near-root sections, while the maximum residual stresses (up to 280 MPa) are seen in the upper part of the fin. The residual stresses through the thickness of the blade sections do not exceed 40–90 MPa. 3. One prerequisite for preventing buckling of large blades of steel 12Kh11VMNF during machining is the presence of minimal residual stresses in the semifinished products. These stresses can be minimized by tempering the metal at 700\2-720\dgC [7].
