Abstract

Objective To explore the influence of quality of life for schizophrenic inpatients who exercise yoga and music therapy.Methods Totally 107 schizophrenic inpatients were divided into 3 groups ( yoga group of 38 patients, music group of 26 patients, and control group of 43 patients) .All patients were measured by GQOLI-74 before treatment.38 patients in Yoga group practical Yoga exercise for 8 weeks in addition to antipsychotic drugs.26 patients in music group practiced music in addition to antipsychotic drugs.After 8 weeks,all patients were measured by GQOLI-74 again.Results The scores of 17 of 20 factors (except housing, social surrounding and financial situation) .Three dimensions (physical function, psycholosical function and social function ) and full score in yoga group and music therapy group were significantly higher than those in control group.( P < 0.05) .The scores of 4 factors ( sexual function, self pride, work and learning, spare recreation time) and two dimensions ( psychological function, social function ) and full scorer in Yoga group were significantly higher than those in music group.Conclusions Yoga exercise and music therapy are more useful for the quality of life of schizophrenic inpatients.Yoga exercise is more useful than music therapy.
