Abstract

Pickering emulsions have the advantages of high stability, low toxicity, and reusability, which makes them have broad application prospects in different fields. In particular, Pickering emulsions with environmental responsiveness are more widely used. In this paper, Janus magnetic nanosheets22JMN (JMN) were synthesized by the interfacial protection method. The basic properties study confirmed that JMN showed high interfacial activity. JMN could not only reduce the interfacial tension of oil-water but also form an interfacial film with strength and elasticity. Based on these excellent interfacial properties, JMN provided a strong emulsifying capacity for a variety of non-polar and polar solvents. The Pickering emulsions with dodecane and butyl butyrate both remained stable after being placed at room temperature for one year. Moreover, the Pickering emulsions presented excellent stability against temperature and salinity. After repeated demulsification, the ability to re-stabilize emulsions did not reduce significantly. This work reveals the basic properties of JMN and provides new material for high-stability magnetic Pickering emulsions.
