Abstract

High optical-quality Eu/Pr co-doped (Y0.9La0.1)2O3 transparent ceramics were prepared by the solid-state reaction method and sintered in H2 atmosphere. Photoluminescence (PL) and radioluminescence (RL) intensities were enhanced by co-doping minor Pr3+ content due to the energy transfer (ET), and quenched with the increase of Pr3+ content due to concentration quenching of excess Pr3+. The possible ET process had been demonstrated. Decay time was also shortened by co-doping Pr3+. The results showed that Eu/Pr co-doped (Y0.9La0.1)2O3 transparent ceramics are promising scintillation materials.
