Abstract

This paper explores the topic of job performance evaluations in the electrical construction industry. It presents a survey of performance evaluation criteria necessary for accurately evaluating the job performance of a typical electrical field supervisor. The research study that this paper is based on had the following objectives: (1) Discover the traits of electrical contracting companies that conduct performance evaluations; (2) find out what types of evaluations are conducted (in terms of time length, frequency, etc.); (3) determine the job duties of a typical electrical field supervisor; (4) establish a list of criteria to use in evaluating a supervisor's performance; and (5) collect the industry's opinions concerning performance evaluations. The main methods of data collection consisted of literature searches, personal interviews, and a questionnaire survey.
