Abstract

Two different types of pearlite: lamellar and granular were under investigation. The microstructural analysis of eutectoid steel CT80 fine texture were carried out using scanning atomic-force microscopy. The parameters of lamellar and globular pearlite were analyzed. It was shown that steel annealing near the melting point destroys the typical lamellar structure of eutectoid pearlite. Spheroids of various sizes dispersed in the ferrite matrix appeared instead of cementite plates. It was indicated that carbide inhomogeneity in globular pearlite is of a greater extent than in lamellar pearlite. The hardness of granular and lamellar pearlite was 176 HV and 243 HV correspondingly.
