Abstract

AbstractFluidized bed combustor is one out of the most popular techniques to utilize biomass wastes in agricultural states like Punjab, India. In this work, a three‐phase mathematical model, considering bubble growth along bed height, has been developed. The mathematical model has been used to find out certain key performance parameters like carbon utilization efficiency, bed carbon load and exit gas composition in a bubbling fluidized bed combustor using tuyre‐type distributor plate. The model predictions have been compared with 7.5 MW fluidized bed power plant using cotton stalk and are found to be in good agreement with plant data. © 2015 Curtin University of Technology and John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
