Abstract
Increasing of electrical demand causes the need of more effective generation system in the distribution of power. Distributed Generation (DG) is a generation system that can resolve the problem. Installation of DG has complex impacts on the distribution network such as change of the voltage profile, short circuit current, power loss network, harmonics and reliability of the system. Therefore, the installation of DG involves the evaluation of protection coordination in accordance with the size, type and placement of DG installation. In this study, the impact of the installation of DG on the coordination of protection on radial distribution network was studied. The distribution system that was used in this study is data from the distribution system of PT. PLN (Persero) Central Java Region. In general, the installation of DG in Central Java has two configurations. First, the installation of DG is done by connecting directly to the 20 kV busbar substation using the express line. Second, the installation is done by connecting DG in the feeder line. The results show that the existing protection coordination settings still work properly for protection coordination settings after the installation of DG.
