Abstract
Using Maxwell displacement current (MDC) and optical second harmonic generation (SHG) measurements, the orientational order parameters S1 and S3 of 4-octyl-4′-n-cyanobiphenyl (8CB) monolayers on the water surface were determined by monolayer compression.
