Abstract

The experiment of removing oil from water surface were done by using the skimming belt under different operation conditions (oil film thickness, oil temperature, belt rotational speed, PH of water, oil type and the belt material type) and then find the empirical correlations of the oil recovery rate under various operating condition. The oil recovery rate (ORR) and the oil recovery efficiency (ORE) are the major parameters that can show the execution of skimming belt which could be anticipated by the empirical coefficient of correlation as function of the above operation conditions. The LINST function of Microsoft Excel program [Least square method / regression analysis] is used to calculate the empirical correlations of the major parameters (ORR), and (ORE). By a comparison between the calculated correlations results and the present experimental results, it is appearance that the two sets have the same results with a variance =0.016% among the results.
