Abstract

This study investigated occupational stress of teachers in selected regular and special secondary schools in Calabar Metropolis. Herzberg’s Motivational theory or two-factor theory (1959) was adopted for the study. Three null hypotheses were formulated to test the variables under study, which were; poor motivation, role conflict and class size. A survey design was adopted for the study where 200 respondents from 8 schools (25 from each school) were randomly assessed using a structured questionnaire with 20 items. Upon data analysis, which was tested using independent t-test at 0.05 significant level as well as result findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between poor motivation, role conflict, class size and teacher occupational stress.
