Abstract

The effect of tellurium on the phenomena accompanying the thermally induced structural changes in various glasses of the chalcogenide system As 4Se 6− x Te x , with O≤ x≤6, has been investigated using DSC measurements. The crystallization data are interpreted in terms of recent analysis developed for non-isothermal crystallization and also for the evaluation of activation energy of crystallization ( E a and the characterization of the crystallization mechanism. The results indicate that bulk crystallization with two-dimensional growth occurs for these glasses. A cyclic technique was used to investigate the thermally induced phases during two consecutive heating-cooling cycles. The relationship between the energy of decomposition E d and composition is discussed in terms of the average heat of atomization.
