Abstract

A procedure that employed the grey relational analysis was proposed to optimize the multiresponse problem. The procedure was demonstrated by investigating fiber-reinforced poly(butylene terephthalate). Ultimate stress and fracture toughness were selected to be the multiple qualities. The Taguchi method was also employed to obtain the optimal process condition for a single response of ultimate stress and again for fracture toughness. The results showed that the recommended condition obtained using grey relational analysis gave satisfactory results in both the S/N ratios of ultimate stress and fracture toughness. This demonstrates the proposed procedure is effective for the optimization of multiresponse problems.
