Abstract

Y123 (YBa2Cu3O7-δ) cylinders were fabricated by Melt Texture Growth (MTG) technique using two different composites. First composite was prepared by addition of 25 wt% of Yttria and 1 % Pt to pre-reacted Y123, and the second composite was prepared by addition of 25 wt% of Yttria and 1wt % Ceria to pre-reacted Y-123. Cylinder shaped green compacts of both the composite were fabricated by pressing in cold isostatic press. These green compacts were sintered at 930°C before subjecting to MTG technique. The MTG cylinders were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Electron Probe Micro Analysis (EPMA) and then correlated with electrical properties like Critical current density (Jc).
