Abstract

Modern techniques allowed measuring the optical spectra of single molecules in transparent hosts. We demonstrate possibilities of Single Molecule Spectroscopy for the study of low-temperature properties of amorphous solids. The overview of the main last results obtained by our group is presented. We are shortly reviewing the newly obtained microscopic information about dynamical processes in low-temperature amorphous solids and about low-energy excitations in these media, such as two-level systems and quasi-localized low-frequency vibrational modes.
