Abstract

Three experimental orbitron gauges have been fabricated: a standard split cathode design, a reduced area cathode (ion collector) design, and a suppressor grid (three concentric electrodes) design. The low pressure response characteristics and operating parameters of each gauge are discussed. Each gauge has displayed a linear ion-current-to-pressure response.
