Abstract

The dispersion relation and growth rate for whistler mode instability in an infinite Uranian bow shock region in the presence of a perpendicular AC field for loss-cone type of distribution function for temperature anisotropy is obtained. The derivation for perturbed distribution function, dispersion relation and growth rate for various strength of loss-cone index have been determined by using the method of characteristic and kinetic approach. The effect of injection of hot energetic electrons of solar wind origin having positive slope and loss-cone index j=1 have been evaluated. Injection of higher number of energetic hot electrons affect growth rate significantly. Also, effect of AC frequency on the growth rate has been studied. This result is of importance in observing VLF emissions over wide frequency range in magnetosphere of Uranus. The result is in contrast to data from magnetoplasma and cold plasma injection results.
