Abstract

In the search for exoplanets, we prepared a suitable software to use the same spectra for radial velocity (RV) determinations (with the spectrum of the I 2 cell imprinted on) to measure variations of the stellar line profiles. This novel approach, can be useful in high precision RV surveys based on I 2 cell data. The software has been used on data acquired within our survey in the search for exoplanets around wide binary stars, ongoing at the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG), where spurious estimates of the RVs due to activity or contamination by light from the companions were revealed. This technique can also be considered to correct the measured RVs, in order to search for planets around active stars.
