Abstract

Background and Aim: Individuals with long-term heavy alcohol use remain at risk for liver diseases with significant morbidity and mortality. The most effective therapy to attenuate the clinical course of alcoholic liver disease (ALD) and even reverse liver damage is alcohol abstinence. This behavioral change needs strong physical and emotional support not only from family but from society also. There is a paucity of literature regarding knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding alcoholism, its harmful effects, and alcohol-related liver disease in the community.
