Abstract

Based on the adaptive importance sampling (AIS) method, an analyzing model examines the effect of coherent and incoherent crosstalk accumulation on the transmission performance of wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) networks. The expression of the average bit error probability of a wavelength channel is given. We study the probability distribution of power penalties, which are influenced by the network nodes number, the WDM wavelength number, and the crosstalk level of optical components.
