Abstract

Wheat is one of the most important cereal crop both in regard to its antiquity and its use as a source of human food. It is a major staple food crop of the world. The experimental materials consisted of 36 genotypes (28 F1s + 8Parents) were sown in Randomized Block Design with 3 replications. The estimated values of additive genetic component (D ˆ) were significant for days to 75% heading, But dominance variance (1 H ˆ) was significant ear length (cm), no. of grains ear, 1000 grain weight (g), grain yield / plant (g). In the present study, correlation coefficients for parents and F1s at phenotypic and genotypic levels among the grain yield and other characters have been worked out. The grain yield per plant showed positive and highly significant association with no. of tillers per plant and 1000 grain weight.
