Abstract

In this paper, a simulation model based on Babinet principle is given to investigate the transmission characteristic of Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSSs) with their finite plane sizes. This method can avoid the impact of diffraction wave from the edge of finite FSS on the simulation result. The difference between the resonant characteristic of finite FSSs inclosed in infinite PEC screen and infinite FSSs is studied through the surface current distribution of its complementary FSSs based on Babinet principle. Transmission characteristic of the finite FSSs with different array scale are also simulated by this technology. Simulation results are compared with its infinite counterpart to show the impact of the finite truncation on the transmission characteristics of the FSSs.
