Abstract

In this study, the effect of a low concentration additive of the metal element Praseodymium (Pr+3) on electron band structure of ZnAl2O4(ZAO) was investigated. The crystal structure of ZAO:Pr was studied by X-ray diffraction. The results of the X-ray diffraction pattern show that very little change has occurred in the peak position of the crystal structure of zinc aluminate in low concentration additive. Modified Coincidence Doppler Broadening-spectroscopy (MCDBS) was used to study the effect of dopants on electron structure of ZAO:Pr. The results of the longitudinal component of linear momentum show that the core electron bands are more affected with increasing additive concentration. Because of decreasing the effects of unwanted gamma rays in this new technique it could be possible to detect the effects of Pr dopants on electron band structure of ZAO with more details.
