Abstract

AbstractIn order to detailed study of Echinoids, some samples are collected from Brown limestone member of Seimare from Gurpi Formation with 213 meter thickness which located in the vicinity of Ilam province; settling over Ilam Formation continuously. Paleontological results indicated Campanian - maastrichtian age at this section. Detailed analysis of the 300 samples led to recognition of Bivalve especially Bivalve of Lofa, Brachiopods and five species of Echinoids such as: Salenia nutrix, Globator bleicheri, Orthopsis miliarisi, Goniopygus superbus, and Conulus douville

Highlights

  • The Gurpi formation & Shiranish Aroma and Simsima were sediment from Santonian till Danian (89-60/9, million years ago) (Ziegler, 2001)

  • In the time of the collision of Arabia plate with Eurasia the trench which was formed in the north end of Arabic plate, hilled rapidly by the small grains of deep sea areas sediments, which, includes excessive amount of planctonik framinifer

  • The age of Gurpi formation is in the base of planktonic foraminifara from middle Campanian till late Paleocene (Figure 1)

Summary

Introduction

The Gurpi formation & Shiranish (in Iran & Iraq) Aroma and Simsima (in Kuwait, saudi Arabia and Arab Emirates and Oman) were sediment from Santonian till Danian (89-60/9, million years ago) (Ziegler, 2001). Geology position and availability ways The section of study is selected in of Seimare member expansion and some samples of echinoids are picked from this section and some photos have been taken. The Gurpi formation includes 213 m of dark grey marns with bedding of light grey calcareous marl and Seimare member (Lofa) with yellow limeston litology Imam Hasan member includes a cream clay limestone litology. The age of Gurpi formation is in the base of planktonic foraminifara from middle Campanian till late Paleocene (Figure 1).
