Abstract

Abstract The present paper reported the mechanical properties and wear behaviour of copper-based metal matrix composites reinforced with silicon carbide (SiC). Copper -SiC (5%) and Copper-SiC (10%) and Copper-SiC (15%) metal matrix composites were prepared by stir casting route. The wear characteristics of the composites were assessed by dry sliding wear tests using pin-on-steel disc tribometer at different loads, speeds and times.
