Abstract

Bismuth Titanate (Bi4Ti3O12 - BTO) was synthesized by Sol–gel synthesis (SGS) and Solid state reaction (SSR) method. Annealing of precipitate powder was done for SGS and SSR method at 400 °C for 4 h and 700 °C for 2 h respectively. Powder was pressed into disc shaped pellets, then pellets were sintered at 800, 900 and 1000 °C for comparative studies. X-ray diffraction studies show that the prepared BTO ceramic has orthorhombic structure. Microstructural analysis was done by Scanning electron microscopy. Effect of sintering temperature on density, dielectric and ferroelectric properties of BTO synthesized by SGS and SSR was studied.
