Abstract

Dermatoglyphic is the study of epidermal ridges and their con฀gurations on the ฀ngers, palms and soles. Schizophrenia is a complex mental illness with multiple etiological factors. Prenatal insult to the developing foetus and genetic causes has been implicated as major risk factors for the genesis of schizophrenia, according to the neurodevelopmental model. As it has been established by many studies that dermatoglyhic markers reflect the possibility of development of genetic disorders, this study has tried to find any association between the markers and the disease. The objective of the study is to study the fingertip patterns of schizophrenia patients and compare it with fingertip patterns of normal controls
