Abstract

Concrete filled steel tube columns have many advantages such as high strength, high stiffness and high ductility. In recent years, cold formed thin walled stainless-steel members have become popular due to their high corrosion resistance, light in weight and highly controllable quality. Corrugated steel sheets have higher stiffness than flat steel sheets. This study investigates the effectiveness of corrugated steel sheets in concrete filled tubular columns as the confining outer tubes. An experimental program was conducted on CFST with corrugated steel tube and is compared with CFST with plain steel tube. Non-linear FE analysis was conducted to study the various parameters such as no: of corrugation, angle of corrugation, spacing of corrugation, depth of corrugation and slenderness ratio which affects the performance of column.
