Abstract

Compton profiles of inert atoms (He, Ne, Ar, Kr), sodium and aluminium are calculated using the impulse approximation. Analytic expressions are obtained for the Compton profiles by using a linear combination of a small number of Gaussian-type orbitals (GTO) for each Slater-type orbital (STO). The results of the present calculations compare well with the experimental data and also with the theoretical calculations using the same Hartree-Fock wavefunctions.
