Abstract
ABSTRACT The untreated and alkali-treated bamboo (Bambusa balcooa) fibers were coated with polyethylene glycol–based polyurethane (PU) and its semi-interpenetrating polymer network (SIPN) with polystyrene (PS). The tensile strength and chemical resistance were measured on alkali-treated and untreated fibers with or without polymer coating. The PU and PU/PS (50/50) IPN-coated bamboo fibers showed improvement in tensile behavior and chemical resistance.
