Abstract

The COVID‐19 pandemic presented unprecedented challenges that required a well‐coordinated response across central and local government, health services, and non‐government sectors. This study compared characteristics, presentation and treatment of care home patients referred to the care home pathway team during three lockdowns between March 2020 and March 2021 in the Guildford and Waverley Home Pathway. Despite availability of mental health services, the findings indicate a reduction in access to mental health services as well as physical health investigations for elderly residents in care homes during lock down 1 compared with the subsequent lockdowns.
