Abstract

1. 1. A surgical procedure for collecting bile directly from the biliary duct of conscious trout is described. 2. 2. This method, allowing for the removal of any “interference” caused by the gallbladder walls, is particularly suitable for the study of the physiology of hepatic gland in fish. 3. 3. Some estimations of basal bile flow rate, its composition and the magnitude of the gallbladder concentrating role are made.
