Abstract
In shaping of composite reinforcements, tensile stresses are the major stresses, while in plane shear strains are the major strains. However the knowledge of the bending behaviour would give more precisely simulation of forming especially for stiffer and thicker textiles. A new cantilever test using optical measurement has been developed to identify non elastic behaviour by taking into account the history of the strains. Associated to the test, an inverse identification method has been developed. Based on the simulation of the test using finite element analysis, the method enables to test the validity of a postulated bending model and to optimize the values of its parameters if validated. An hysteretic bending model has been tested for a carbon Non Crimp Fabric reinforcement to show the advantage of the complete approach.
