Abstract

With the continuous expanding of Internet scale, the network users and application increase rapidly and congestion control has become focus of network study. Several congestion control algorithms have been proposed out and improved for effective reduction of packet loss rate and for better utilization of network bandwidth. AQM (Active Queue Management) controls the queue length through intermediate node, and the congestion could be avoided because it actively discards the packet with predictability. Active Queue Management mechanism designed based on control theory is more scientific, and its parameter configuration is much easier. In this paper several AQM congestion control models based on control theory are presented, and detailed analyses and comparisons of control model, congestion detection method, parameter configuration and robust for congestion control methods such as PI or PID algorithm. Future research direction in this field is analyzed.
