Abstract

The americium cations-oxygen anions interaction was investigated the by potentiometric titration method using an electrochemical cell with two platinum-oxygen electrodes having a solid-electrolytic membrane in the alkaline metals molten chlorides (NaCl-KCl-CsCl and NaCl-CsCl eutectic mixtures, NaCl-KCl equimolar mixture) in the temperature range of 550-700 C depending on the medium oxo-acidity. Assumptions were stated of the ionic and phase composition of the produced high-temperature compounds and chemical reactions proceeding in the melts. The main thermodynamic values were calculated for the produced americium oxide and oxy-chloride.
