Abstract

In this study, the ignition criteria in the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) associated with helium concentration is investigated. The main fuels used in this study are deuterium-tritium. Helium as the ash of deuterium-tritium reaction cannot be avoided. In this work, the effects of alpha particle concentration on plasma operation are investigated. The calculations were performed by using zero-dimensional power and particle balance equations. The results of our calculations show that the temporal evolution of alpha particle concentration becomes constant at 0.14. Then, ignition criteria and saddle points have been studied in n e τ E −T, and −T planes for different alpha particle concentrations.
