Abstract

A simple experimental set was developed to measure isothermally and simultaneously the thermal flow and the variations of electrical resistivity during the hydration of an hydraulic binder slurry. The application in the case of the β calcium sulfate hemihydrate setting showed that dissolution rate of hemihydrate and crystalization rate of gypsum are never equal during the setting, which leads to new data to determine the exact kinetics and mechanism of hydration process.
