Abstract
The design, construction and performance of a 16-channel xenon time projection chamber (TPC) of about 1 1 volume is discussed. This prototype TPC was able to provide sufficient information regarding scintillation, energy resolution and track reconstruction for the development of the next generation TPC, suitable for double beta decay experiments.
