Abstract

A high frequency system for sub-terahertz sheet beam travelling wave tubes (SB-TWTs) is presented in this paper, which is composed of an input coupler, an output coupler and a slow wave structure (SWS). An L-shape waveguide loaded with matching steps and reflective resonators is used for the input and output coupler. An improved double-staggered grating waveguide with a curved beam tunnel is adopted as the SWS. The performance was studied when these three components were connected together. It was shown that the whole system achieved a low port reflection and good transmission in a wide frequency band. The designed high frequency system provides a competitive beam wave interaction structure for SB-TWTs.
