Abstract

A conversion plasma target for injectors of hydrogen atoms with an energy of 0.5–1 MeV is currently being constructed at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics. This article describes the results of experiments conducted on a 1-m-long prototype plasma target, which is designed to neutralize a beam with a current of ~1 A. The plasma in the target is confined by a multipole magnetic field.
