Abstract

The subcritical growth of a mode I crack with nonsmall end zones in an aging viscoelastic plate under tensile loads applied at infinity is studied assuming that the fracture process zone is of constant length. The equations of incubation, transition, and major crack growth stages are obtained on the basis of the Volterra principle and critical crack opening criterion. The crack subcritical growth of a specific material is studied as an example
