Abstract

The study assessed whether study habits predicted the academic performance of students at Zion Girls’ Senior High School. One hundred and twelve students in form 2 were the respondents in the study. The Study Habit Survey questionnaire was used for data collection. The data was analyzed by the use of bivariate correlation and multiple regression analytical techniques with SPSS version 17. It was observed that out of the ten study habits used to assess the relationship with academic performance, only two, that is assignment and correction emerged as positively and significantly correlating with it. Also, assignment emerged as the only predictor of academic performance. It was therefore recommended that other effective study habits that would significantly influence students’ academic performance should be introduced to the students for higher academic performance.
